Over the years, my Yoga and meditation practice has resulted in some pretty wild experiences, not the least of which was one instance when I felt the physical boundaries of my body dissolve and every molecule expand into space until I was one with all that is. For years I have also believed that humans will eventually evolve to a point where we vibrate at a higher frequency, allowing us to connect on an energetic level, and that by the sheer force of our collective consciousness, we will be able to ‘think’ peace into being. I have long been reticent to share these views because I realize most people will either think I am crazy or write me of as a kook. But today my friend, Mary Jo, sent me a link to an 19-minute video that seems to back up my experiences and theories.
The video is from TED.com, the website that is devoted to giving millions of knowledge-seekers around the globe direct access to the world’s greatest thinkers and teachers. In it, Jill Bolte Taylor, a neuroanatomist specializing in the study of the brain, describes waking up one morning and realizing she was having a massive stroke. As she felt her brain functions slip away one by one: speech, movement, understanding, she studied and remembered every moment. Taylor vividly describes moments when she had access only to her left-side, analytical, linear brain, followed by moments when she could only connect with the creative, universal consciousness that is her right-side brain. It is a fascinating video and is confirmation for me that my ideas are not so wacky, after all. I hope you will take time to watch it.
