Check out the rest of my photo tour of Sarasota. The building below sits on the boundary between the Rosemary District and Gillespie Park, neighborhoods located just to the north of downtown. It houses the Rustic Grill Restaurant, which is reputed to be a great dinner spot. They’ve done a great job with the outside of this building – the adobe, the paint job, the landscaping, etc.
In addition to taking photos of old doors and windows, I also have an affinity for old, gnarled, or dead trees:
At the Community Garden, anyone can rent a plot of land and grow whatever they wish:
The Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning has become a must do event for me. There’s live music, fresh coffee, great samples, and wonderfully fresh organic produce. It’s also where everyone meets and greets:
After the Market I just can’t resist breakfast at C’est La Vie, the French Cafe on Main Street. It’s always fun there – sitting at a table on the sidewalk watching the world go by – but this week was even better. When I arrived, a march protesting the Iraq war was underway. Participants streamed down the sidewalk, weaving in and around the cafe tables with their posters and banners. They were from all walks of life: seniors, teenagers, and babies in carriages being wheeled by their moms; traditional left wingers in gas masks; even the homeless joined in. The march went on for blocks, complete with police escort. Never a dull moment in this town:
Finally, with appetite and creative juices sated, I headed for home. While I walk everywhere, not everyone shares my passion:
Well, that’s all for now. Keep reading and I’ll keep writing!

I love your pictures. Could you take some close ups of palm trees for me? And any other tropical vegetation. I use them for resources for my artwork.
Hey Barbara, you sure do get around town! Keep up the fun photos.
