My grandmother and grandfather were from Takos….baptized in the beautiful church. Wonderful place to visit and see real Hungary. XXOO
Hi Laurel: I couldn’t agree more – I felt I learned more about Hungary during my stay in Szatmar than anywhere else in the country.
Dear Barbara, I just shared this photo on the facebook fan page of my own travel blog with a comment, that I went through dozens of leading travel blogs the last few months, and apart from you they all had the same to say about Hungary (turkish baths, ruin pubs, Great market hall in Budapest). I was so thrilled to see that you ventured to East Hungary, where my family is from. And guess what – one of my readers, who is also a good friend of mine, commented that she was your host in Panyola (Zsuzsa). Such a small world. If you ever come back to Hungary, I would love to meet you and I can also host you as I have an airbnb apartment right in the center. All the best, happy travelling, Eva
Hello Eva! I am continually amazed by how small the world really is. Eastern Hungary makes my list of the top places I’ve visited. I cannot imagine why it doesn’t have more tourism. I may be back to Hungary some day, so I’ll keep your name and email, and thanks so much for your very kind offer (what city is your apartment in?). Say hi to Zsuzsa for me – she and her whole family are just wonderful.
Thank you for the report and photographs of Hungary and Romania. I have enjoyed seeing them very much. I probably won’t ever get to go to either country but you have given me a mini tour.
Hi Elizabeth: I do hope you get to travel someday, but in lieu of that I’m glad I can show you different parts of the world. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
