It’s a common sight to see people bathing in the Ganges River in Varanasi, India. Some who do so are undoubtedly poor people who may not have access to running water. However, most who bathe in the Ganga, as it known in India, are followers of Hinduism. To Hindus, bathing in the Ganges River facilitates the remission of sins and leads to Moksha, or liberation from the cycle of life and death. By soaping up and rinsing off in the Ganga, this man hopes to be released from the “wheel of suffering” that accompanies reincarnation.
My wife and I liked to travel and I like to take photos. we both enjoy reading your blog and viewing your photos. Many of the places you write about we have visited. A bit envious of your lack of time restraints on your travel adventures. I am semi-retired which usually limits a trip to 30 days per trip, doing 2 or 3 trips per year.
We toured parts of India in Oct/Nov 2016. I wanted to photograph a tiger, and was very fortunate to get that opportunity in Ranthambore National Park. “Our” tiger was a young male and very aminated. We could have sat and watched him all day. Our trip was “complete” when we saw him. I take a lot of photos on each trip (between 11,000 to 16,000) and then post a few hundred on Google Photos and share with a link. We have not looked at all of my photos from India as of yet. Hopefully will get them viewed and posted by Apr 25th-May 20th as we are off to Portugal, if you have any suggestions, we would to hear from you. Then in August we are visiting the Baltic countries, Helinski and Berlin. It was your blog on Tallin that originally “hooked” me on The Hole in the Donut.
