Discs hanging between pillars at House of the Relief of Telephus in Herculaneum are plaster casts of marble carvings designed to ward off evil. The estate was a veritable palace in Roman days, and was believed to be home to Marcus Nonius Balbus, the governor of Crete and part of modern-day Libya. Like all other structures in the community, it was completely buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.
Have a nice and beautiful country.i like him your country.
We were just there. Just an amazing sight.
I don’t use the word amazing much, Kelly, because it’s so overused, but in this case it’s the best description I can think of. Herculaneum is truly amazing.
