Slipping an offering into the slot in the belly of this seated Buddha at Khao Tao temple in Hua Hin, Thailand is said to bring the donor good luck. After making a donation, visitors are directed up a short stairway to a terrace containing more Buddhas and cast iron bells, then further up to a museum that contains centuries old Buddhist artifacts. From there, a path leads back down to the sea, through a Buddha-laden cave and past a series of temples, before ascending a hill where the biggest seated Buddha of all sits cross-legged, surveying a panoramic view of the bay. The Khao Tao Wat complex is located about 30 minutes south of Hua Hin proper.
Beautiful photo of this Buddha. He is portrayed in so many ways, chubby, thin… 🙂
I like the laughing, big-belly ones best, Bibi 🙂
