I love the grandiose gates of many European cities so wonderfully preserved. You can picture people on horseback approaching the city with its grand entrance and imposing walls.
Hi Mark: The thing that boggles my mind more than anything is the AGE of these places. In the U.S. we think a 200 year old house is old, but in Europe it’s common to see a building from the 1400’s.
