    • It’s possible, Kathy. I learned that new temples were built right over the old ones, covering up the earlier carvings. Each time, the walls grew higher and thicker. As archeologists excavated, they found layer after layer of carved, painted walls. It could be that the carvings I photographed were recently uncovered, as the chink in the center of the wall revealed yet more layers waiting to be revealed.
