The Promenade du Paillon is a broad piazza that separates the historic center of Nice from the new town. At its center, water spouts dance in the air, sometimes high, sometimes low. The fountain attracts families with children from early morning until late at night. Some kids try to block the geysers by covering them with their tiny hands. Other try to catch the dancing water or dance to its rhythm. At night, colored spotlights turn the spouts to rainbow hues, while the shallow water on the concrete creates a silvered pool. As the sun sinks, Nice’s gorgeous buildings and mountain backdrop, drenched in the golden colors of sunset, are mirrored on the glassy surface.
Lovely photos! Nice is also the center for visiting art and getting to know the Post Impressionists. Definitely plan to see at least St. Paul de Vence, Antibes and other art areas.
Hi Phyllis: Thanks so much for the suggestions. I was there for far too short a stay, but will put them on my list for next time.
