Afternoon break for tea and Checkers in Myanmar. Squatting on low plastic stools that are set out on the streets around Scott Market in Yangon, these men seemed oblivious to the cars and motorcycles that sped by with only inches to spare. The game is played with bottle caps rather than true markers, which most cannot afford to buy. The game of Checkers is a popular pastime throughout Myanmar, and is played with a great deal of seriousness and concentration. This was just one of many magical sights seen during my Myanmar Explorer Cruise/Tour with Viking River Cruises.
Incredible photo you capture how they live day by day
Thanks Izy – I try to capture things that represent everyday life.
