About Me (Barbara Weibel)

After years of working 70 hours a week at jobs I detested, I felt like the proverbial "hole in the donut" - solid on the outside, but empty on the inside. Searching for meaning in my life, I abandoned my successful but unsatisfying career and set out on a six-month solo backpacking trip around the world to pursue my true passions of travel, writing, and photography. Hi Elaine: Well, money is the biggest struggle for me at al times. Writers don’t make much money, and it’s also hard to make a living as a photographer, so I supplement by selling ads on my blog, however it was nearly three years before the blog made a nickle. I make enough to stay on the road full time, however I must do so economically and usually stay in inexpensive guest houses and hostels. Best of luck with your trip!
