Visitors toss coins at Red Square entrance while standing on “Zero Kilometer,” the place from which all distances in Moscow are measured. The practice is said to bring good luck. It is uncertain if there is any truth to the superstition, but clearly it is lucky for the senior citizens who rush to retrieve the coins as soon as they hit the ground.
