Barbara Weibel’s Cultural Travel

Barbara Weibel After years of working 70 hours a week at jobs that paid the bills but brought no joy, I felt like the proverbial "hole in the donut" - solid on the outside, but empty on the inside. In early 2007, searching for meaning in my life, I set out to pursue my true passions of travel, writing, and photography. My stories feature the destinations I visit and the people I meet, with an emphasis on cultural travel and traveling in a manner that benefits and deeply interacts with locals. • I agree with Anita. I prefer love locks on bridges, not sculptures. I have a fun photo from Napa Valley by the Wine Train Depot with tons of love locks.

  • Anita Mac says:

I am a huge fan of the love locks…have a lock of my own to lock onto a bridge someday soon….but I am not sure if I agree with locking them on a statue! I missed that while in Paris in October. Took tonnes of photos of the bridge locks. I am starting to see the locks everywhere on almost any surface…but I think I prefer them to be congregated together on a bridge or a love lock tree that has been erected expressly for that purpose, not where they may damage a sculpture or work of art. I am at a cross roads on this one.

    • Barbara Weibel says:

Apparently, Anita, thee city removes them every now and then, so the ones on the statue may very well disappear.
