About Barbara Weibel

Barbara Weibel After years of working 70 hours a week at jobs I detested, I felt like the proverbial "hole in the donut" - solid on the outside, but empty on the inside. Searching for meaning in my life, I abandoned my successful but unsatisfying career and set out on a six-month solo backpacking trip around the world to pursue my true passions of travel, writing, and photography. My blog features stories about the destinations I visit, people I meet, the crazy things...Read more here....

Your travels definitely gets you to places that are “out of the way”! I am not sure how you do that! For this picture, size of it is an illusion. Is this REALLY deep or just a jagged river bed yards wide? I can’t tell.

    • baweibel says:

Hi Cheryl: It’s quite deep but very narrow. The Seti River runs right through Pokara in a similar fashion, though not so much of a “moonscape.” Glad you are enjoying my photos; I certainly love taking them and bringing them to you!

  • Matthew Cheyne says:

I’m curious as well. How deep is that gorge?

    • baweibel says:

Hi Matthew: Well, I’m not really sure, as I’m not much of a judge of distances, but the rocky channel is quite narrow and I suspect very deep.

Always awesome pictures. Thank you Barbara, for sharing your journey with us and allowing us to see the wonders of it through your eyes.

Hi Paul! Thanks for your lovely comment. Hope you are doing well – are you in Texas yet? Sending you a hug.
