Hi Kathy: If you are facing the Cathedral in the main square, either of the streets that go up the hill next to the Cathedral will take you into the San Blas neighborhood. There are many such stairways all over the hillside, and it’s a lovely neighborhood to explore, with its multi-colored houses and chicha flags, etc.

Imagine having to carry your groceries up that! Looks like a job for a dumb waiter/elevator!
