I have high hopes that Chicago will win the bid. Since my family is in the area, I can stay for free and it will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I was in Sydney in 2007, so I was a beneficiary of the amazing public transportation system, some of which was put in place for the Olympics. One of the promises Chicago has made is that after the Olympics, much of the infrastructure (stadia, transportation, etc.) will remain and be a continuing benefit to the city. If only I could get used to the cold again, I would willingly move back there! But Sydney is no slouch either - what a beautiful city!

The sculptures among the wildflowers look kind of surreal to me on a disused airfield. I was in Sydney for the 2000 Olympics and it was an amazing several weeks of cultural displays (some of Leonardo's notebooks and the Dead Sea Scrolls were on display among many other things), 24x7 lively activity (the city was a buzz the whole two weeks), great sporting events and people from all over the world enjoying the city. And it leaves a great legacy of improved transport, sporting stadia and more after the event. Make sure you go if CHicago wins the gong.

What beautiful sculptures, I think I prefer them among the wildflowers than all that urban development although hopefully it will look a little more natural than those stylised artists impressions

Hi Barbara I enjoy going to your site from time to time to see what you are up to!! I didn't know about the angels on the island in Chicago - they are beautiful. I have a chance to go to Puerto Vallerta this coming January with one of the girls from Nancy's H2 group at the pool. You read her (Barb's) aura when you visited last winter and said she had angel-like shapes around her which she said was her deceased husband. She was very comforted by that. Hope you are doing well, keeping busy and having fun!!
Be sure and come to see us if you are back this way at Christmas time. Jean E.
