Thank you for such a wonderful report on "our" hometown. I have been a resident of Stephens County since about 1951 and I always enjoy "showing" my hometown to visitors. And, I am very proud that you took the time to make the grand tour, although there is a some more. The Travelers Rest is just a few miles out of town and has worlds of history. It was the travelers rest and general store back in the Cherokee Indian days.
I thank you for coming by and your stay. I will mention your visit to all the "guys" at our Historical Society's coffee and breakfast meeting Wednesday, July 1st.

Laura, Brenda, Dan, Carlton, and Anita:
I am so glad you liked what I had to say about Toccoa. I certainly enjoyed my time there - what a wonderful little town, filled with the most amazingly friendly people!

Ms. Weibel,, I too am a native of Toccoa-Stephens county. I am self employed, serving the public. This area is rich in natural resources that I have allways enjoyed and have never forgotten the fact how fortunate we are. But, we have the ultimate treasure, our people. By meeting and knowing a huge population of our people thru the years, I can attest that our "folks" rank GOLD !!!! Come back to see us !!

Ms. Barbara, You have put into words what I have felt ever since I first set foot in this town of Toccoa. I am a resident of Chester, Virginia, but every October, my wife, Sandra, and I travel down to the annual Military Reunion weekend. We honor Sandra's father, Robert E. "Popeye" Wynn by running/walking the Currahee Challenge. "There Miles up, three milles down" is the quip used for this training mountain. It gives us a respect for what these men went through. We love the whole town, and quite possibly intend to settle there in retirement. We hav met a number of people from all over the country, but happen to love the citizens of Toccoa because they are all so "down home" and hard working.
Thanks again for writing such an informative atricle.

Dear Barbara,

Thanks so much for visiting my hometown, and for the beautiful pictures and your excellent article. I currently serve as the Administrative Assistant for the Stephens County Development Authority (www.scda.biz) and was pleased to hear that you had such a great experience. Of course, this kind of impression is very important for us as we seek to attract business and industry.

We certainly hope that you will come again, and bring friends!

Sincerely,

Anita G. Poole
