back in the early 50's cypress gardens was the place to go. i vividly recall sitting in the stands and watching the show. then there were the beautiful flowered paths and gals dressed up in hoop skirts posing throughout the gardens. sounds a little retro and corny now but at the time it was really something. those were days of innocence and simpler pleasures. also on the agenda was a visit to bok tower to hear the bells. not exactly disneyworld but it was a treat then.

Ken:
Thanks for the personal report. I do hope they are able to gradually restore it to its former glory. It would be a shame to lose this bit of history.

Has a long way to go to be anything like the Cykpress Gardens from a few years ago. We were there today and the ski show was medeokar, no electrie boat rides around the gardens, and that part of the park where the oce skateing show and the island in the sky and several other attractions were was all closed off. We were disapointed with the experiance.

This is good news! I was so disheartened when I heard it was closing...part of the disappearing act of the Florida of my youth. Hopefully, people will come to it now that it's freshened up. Have enjoyed traveling Florida with you these past several posts...
