Long term travel has appealed to me for a long time, but it's the flying solo part that still lingers. This is an informative post. And Kudos to Onion!

This might be worthwhile. One of the sales guys in my office just sent me a link to this site called Mile High Swap – milehighswap.com I checked it out briefly and it appears like you can swap your frequent flyer miles with other people on the site. Swap em for items, services and miles for miles. Danny says it’s like an eBay but instead of having to spend cash for stuff, you spend miles. Of course the people who have stuff posted up there need miles. It looks like a great idea.

Wonderfully informative post on the practical aspects of long-term travel.
I wonder sometimes, how it would feel to forget everything else and live for sometime, completely alone and secluded. No contacts whatsoever. Maybe I will feel lonely, maybe I will gain a new perspective of life. Or maybe nothing will change. I will remain the same with just a heap of month-old mails and bills to sort through. But at least it will be a break from a life which is becoming increasingly mechanical each day.

PS: The pictures from around the world are quite skillfully captured.
