The more I travel, the more I want to travel – it’s an addiction of sorts, but a good one, I think. Over the past few years I’ve been able to “check off” a whole bunch of destinations that I was determined to see before I died, but there are still so many places I want to go. I decided that I needed to make a list of the places I’d been and the places I still want to visit:
WHERE I’VE BEEN:
- All around the U.S., with the exception of Alaska, Montana, North and South Dakota, Wyoming, Alabama, Mississippi, and Rhode Island

- Vietnam
- Bali
- Australia
- New Zealand
- India (Mumbai, Ajanta, Goa, Madhya Pradesh)
WHERE I STILL WANT TO GO:
- The Aurora Borealis, whether in Alaska or the Scandinavian countries (this is currently my number one “must see before I die” destination)
- Laos (another absolute “must see”)
- Myanmar/Burma (a “must see”)
- Cambodia (Phnom Penh, Luang Prabang, Plain of Jars)
- Malaysia

- Israel (a “must see”)
- Jordan (a “must see”)
- Kenya
- Rwanda (to see the gorillas)
- Madagascar
- Mozambique
- Easter island
- Egypt
- Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands
- Peru (hiking up to Macchu Pichu is on my “must do before I die” list)

- Brazil
- Chile
- Costa Rica
- Nicaragua
- Guatemala
- Caribbean (Cuba, Barbados, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos, Antiga and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Martin, St. Lucia, Martinique)

- Canada (Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island)
- U.S. (southern Utah, Montana, the Dakotas, Wyoming, Alaska, New York, West Virginia, Arkansas, and northern Minnesota)
GROAN! I’m exhausted just reading the list. I don’t think I have enough years left to see all these places, but I’m gonna’ give it my best effort. What about you? What destinations are on your life list? Do you see a place I’ve left off that you think I’d love to visit? If so, leave me a comment and maybe I’ll add it to my list; heck, what’s a couple more countries!

I love these lists. You’ve done a lot of traveling! My list includes: every state in U.S. I have not yet been to (that list is growing smaller, thankfully), the Canadian Rockies, Italy, the French countryside, the Galapagos Islands, Japan (again), Easter Island, Stonehenge, Tanzania, Israel, Ireland, Australia, Tibet, India, Cuba, western Canada. I’ve already been to a lot of the Caribbean, the U.S. and Eastern Canada.

I like to think of the “Oh, My GOD!” moments and these are at the top of my list:
-The Giza Pyramids, Egypt…at night
-The Khan El-Khalili Bazaar in Cairo-best coffee in the world
-Fez El Bali, Morocco when stepping out on a rooftop to view the Tanneries
-A turn in the road in Bran, Transylvania, Romania..and there stood Count Dracula’s castle
-Masada, Israel
-Yad Vasheem, the Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem
-The Mile long trek thru the Siq Gorge to the magical sight of the Treasury Building at Petra, Jordan
And still I want more and more and more..
There is a book called “1,000 Places to See Before You Die-A Traveler’s Life List” by Patricia Schultz
You may know about it. It is not only about places but also about worthwhile events in these places. I like to check things off in it!
Belize, go to Belize. Especially Ambergris Caye Belize, since you are such a beach connoisseur you will love it. You also need to add Angel Falls to your list. The world’s highest waterfall is located in the Canaima National Park, Bolivar, Venezuela. While you are in Venezuela try see Margarita Island and Puerto La Cruz, It was my favorite beach for a while.
Happy trails.

Hi Barabra, just realised that you are the same person as took the picture of Thai punk (I commented on that one yesterday). I was in Tanzania last year, around this time. Probably the best trip of my life!

What an excellent list and surely a lifetime of effort. I am sure you’ll manage to mark off quite a few on this list and have some wonderful experiences. I hope that you get to see the aurora – I saw a weak version in Churchill, but I believe at the right time of year, it has wonderful sightings. Very accessible via plane or train from Winnipeg.

Maldives is a must see places, amazing dive sites with breathtaking view!
Well, I’m jealous of your “done” list!
I notice you have left off all the Nordic countries apart from a mention for Aurora Borealis. I would go for Iceland perhaps as a stopover to UK or another European country on your list so you can try and see Aurora Borealis and a whole lot more.
It was a really nice thought! Just wanna say thank you for the selective information you have diffused. Just continue writing this kind of post. I will be your loyal reader. Gives Thanks over again.
