I travelled to Zimbabwe in 1991 when it was probably the "best" country in Africa - successful, safe and relatively well-off. Harare was like an oasis by contrast with most African cities. What a tragedy that has unfolded in just fifteen years, especially the vast majority of the people (like Victor) are good and trying to support their families and do their bit for the country. It will eventually change but the wait seems interminable.
