Chess rules:
If you think the card may have been stolen, by all means, go to the trouble to get a police report. Had I not done so when I was robbed in Hawaii, I would have had a much more difficult time.

My ATM card lost last evening, do i need to launch an FIR of the incident in the police station, or just simply visit the concerned bank and describe the incident.

I meant to say is “make arrangements with all your vendors (mortgage, utilities, etc.) to automatically draft from your account each month, or pay online though the vendorÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s website, rather than using web banking.” I’ve made the change above – thanks again and sorry for the confusion.

Don’t quite understand this one:

I’d also recommend getting a temporary traveler’s credit card. Most banks (at least in the US) will offer something like this.
